At Education and Hope we recognize that although access to education is extremely important, a child’s ability to learn has much to do with his or her health and social wellbeing. We do our best to meet each child’s individual nutritional and medical needs (doctor and dentist visits, necessary medicine), and to provide shoes and clothing to those in need as well. When possible we try to provide students with psychological counseling. Many of our children suffer from deep emotional problems as a result of abandonment or past physical abuse. At the after school program we have worked hard to create a caring, supportive environment where the kids feel safe and know that they are loved. That so many have succeeded in spite of overwhelming hardship is the greatest testimony to the impact our program has had on their lives.
