In 2005, 154 children and young adults are currently receiving comprehensive scholarships. 75 of the students attend primary school, 37 are in middle school, 23 are in high school, and 7 students are receiving vocational training. We are proud to be supporting 12 students on the university level.
In addition to registration and monthly tuition costs, Education and Hope typically supplies all books and required materials, uniforms when mandatory, school shoes and sneakers, and cover miscellaneous costs (such as medical expenses) that arise throughout the year. The amount of each individual scholarship varies according to the particular expenses of that child’s educational institution and the economic situation of each family. Since the majority of our families live in extreme poverty, scholarships in most cases cover almost all costs incurred by each student. Support per child averages about $50 a month.
