Education and Hope has a special Wish List on Amazon.com for children’s books in Spanish and educational materials. The after school program is really the only place where our students have access to story books, and we are currently attempting to create our own small library on site to further encourage reading. Box in Norwalk and are then transported to Guatemala by volunteers.
Shipping items to Guatemala has become increasingly difficult and prohibitively expensive. However, if you are traveling to Guatemala and you are able to bring an extra suitcase here is a list of items we are always grateful to receive:
STURDY BACK PACKS (without wheels)
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Crayola colored pencils and washable magic markers, glue sticks, children’s scissors, scientific calculators;
MEDICINE: Children’s Advil or Tylenol, children’s decongestant cough medicine, chewable vitamins, Ensure (powder form), toothbrushes and toothpaste
CLOTHING: Children’s socks and underwear, children’s raincoats
